Double Divas

Boobs.

Yes, we all love boobs. Small ones, big ones, they are a constant source of fascination--and irritation. You try strapping bags of flour to your chest and walking around all day and see how YOU like it. Between the backaches, the underwire digging into your flesh, and the nipple chaffing (at least for those of us who run), boobs can be supremely annoying. And yet.....they're boobs. We're obsessed with them as babies, and many of us never seem to outgrow it.

On that note....meet the Double Divas (a.k.a. Molly and Cynthia):

They are also obsessed with boobs. Or should I say, they are obsessed with helping women love their boobs. No chest is too small or too big or too wonky or too....whatever. They own a lingerie shop outside Atlanta, LiviRae, and specialize in finding the perfect bra for everyone. And I mean everyone. Because it's not just women who come into the store who are targets;everywhere the ladies go they are on a mission to make sure every woman has a proper bra.

Double Divas has a lot of typical reality show problems; many of the situations and commentary are clearly scripted and Molly and Cynthia can sometime grate with their too-precious Southern accents. But underneath the artifice, there is a lot of heart in the show. At the end of the day, the Double Divas help women feel better about themselves and their bodies and I can't pretend that it isn't really sweet.

For example, when a transgender lady came into the shop, Molly helped her like she would any other woman. The customer was clearly moved--and mentioned that she had been met with verbal abuse and employees that refused to help her at other stores (think the bitchy Rodeo Drive ladies in Pretty Woman). She ended up finding some lingerie that made her look awesome, and the Double Divas saved another sad set of breasts.

"You wanna help me?"
"Of course, that's what we do here."
(cue tears)

Oh, and don't even get me started on the episode where they went to the women's homeless shelter to fit and gift bras to women who were trying to get back into the workforce. I never really thought about it before, but when your girls are propped up properly, it's a lot easier to have confidence in yourself.

I ended up really enjoying Double Divas; it's a fun bit of fluff with a positive message that all women, no matter their shape, deserve to look and feel beautiful. I'm not saying it's appointment television, but if you find yourself flipping channels looking for something on a weekend afternoon, it will due in a pinch.

Double Divas airs on Lifetime and just finished its first season, but you can find episodes on On Demand and online.

Oh, and check out their bra tips! Handy.
